I’m pictured with my mom last night after I was recognized for cycling to help in the fight against blood cancers by the Indus Valley American Chamber of Commerce (IVACC) at their annual year-end dinner in Sacramento, CA.
Among the causes I’ve supported through cycling, I’ve ridden with Team-in-Training in Los Angeles to raise about $5,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over the past two years. While one of my inspirations to ride is selfless service to others, I have to admit that this cause is a little selfish as we’ve had a personal experience with this disease. So, I feel a little embarrassed to be given recognition (and for even writing this post), especially since what I’ve raised comes from people who support these causes. It’s humbling, but it means a lot to know my community sees value in these efforts. I want to do a lot more.
Thanks to IVACC and to all my donors and supporters. I’m looking forward to more impactful seva in 2019!
