On September 10, 2022, I cycled in the RBC Gran Fondo, a 75 mile race from Vancouver to Whistler, BC along the Sea-to-Sky Highway. I entered this event as my second annual #ride4Riaan to raise funds for the Riaan Research Initiative.
The ride is ridden and the funds are raised! On June 5, I rode 100 miles to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and you all helped by donating to most ever to support me in this event.
Last week, I biked over to the California State Capitol in Sacramento to join a protest to support farmers in India. People came to the Capitol from all over Northern California in a show of support, solidarity, and to let the Indian government know that the world is watching.
My mom and unofficial publicist contacted Jus Punjabi TV about last week’s bike ride for No Kid Hungry, and Aashmeeta, host of “The Good News Show”, graciously invited me to come on her program to talk about the bike ride, cycling for seva (and what’s next), Sikh participation and representation in sports and other things. Amarjit Singh Chawla of Mumbai, India, lost his sight at the age of 40 from macular degeneration. He began running at the age of 48. While he is 100% blind, he runs with several guides during his events. Now in his sixties, he has completed over 100 half and full marathons.
